Pet Pals of Texas and Woofstock

Vicki Jurney-Taylor, who has a progressive neuromuscular disability, founded Pet Pals of Texas in 2003 and Woofstock in 2010.

Pet Pals founder Vicki Jurney-Taylor

Pet Pals is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides in-home pet care, food-bank support and veterinary assistance to companion animals whose owners are disabled or terminally ill.

As a retired rehabilitation case manager, Jurney-Taylor witnessed firsthand the impact that owning a pet has on the overall well-being of people who are often homebound and socially isolated. But these pet owners often lack money or physical supports to provide for pets.

Pet Pals, funded through public donations, is managed and operated by a staff of 28 volunteers who provide services to those who live in Bexar and the surrounding counties.

San Antonio Music Event

Woofstock 2011 is San Antonio's largest musical pet festival and Pet Pals of Texas' signature fund-raising event.

With strong support from a community of local, talented musicians, Jurney-Taylor envisioned a family-friendly event that would combine her two greatest passions: pet advocacy and live music.

Woofstock has something for everyone, including food and vendor booths, games, prizes and pets for adoption.
